The Evolution of IoT Wireless Networks for Low-Rate and Real-Time Applications

摘要

As wireless communication between intelligent devices widely exploited in modern daily living, the technology of IoT wireless networks has boomed in the past two decades. This paper firstly reviews about the evolution of wireless automation systems from field-bus to industrial Ethernet, and IoT Wireless Networks, emphasizing on flexibility, security and reliability due to resource constraint of wireless sensor nodes but meeting the needs of real-time and low-rate communications. Three standards (WirelessHART, ISA100.11a and WIA-PA) and future trends for industrial wireless networks are then analyzed based on IEEE 802.15.4. The control performance and power dissipation of wireless network are testified usingTrueTime platform with MATLAB, and the simulation results show the practicability of the proposed wireless system.
