The Process of Chen-Li's Studying and Writing

Abstracts


本文探討陳澧為學之歷程,以為陳澧一生的為學轉折,可分為兩大階段,前階段以範疇的轉移為主,後階段者以方法、態度之調整為主。並以此為基礎,指出《學思錄》實欲表出人人必知的義理之學,具教材的性質,為其經世之志的具體實踐,而非展現專門之學的著作,更非今人以《東塾讀書記》為據所論之經學專著。本文同時將陳澧的為學歷程,置於晚清學風的背景,指出乾嘉到晚清學術之轉變,不在對考據之離棄,而在運用考據的方法及態度之不同,而此轉變,為學者的強烈經世情懷使然。

Parallel abstracts


This paper probes into the process of Chen-Li's studying and indicates that the process can be divided into two major stages. The main core of the first stage is category transformation, while the second one focuses on adjusting the method and attitude. Based on this, the paper argues that Chen-Li wanted the Yi-li (義理) learning to be well-known by everyone in his Xue-Sih-Lu (學思錄), which demonstrates Chen-Li's jing-shih (經世) ideal, and is a teaching material, but not a special book on classical studies. The most important thing is that Xue-Sih-Lu is not equal to Dong-Shu Du-Shu-Ji (東塾讀書記). This paper also puts Chen-Li's studying life against the backdrop of Qing dynasty intellectual atmosphere, and points out the transition of academicism from Qian-jia (乾嘉) to late Qing. The key of the transition was the method and attitude toward kao-zheng (考證), and this transition was caused by the scholars' jing-shih ideal.
