The aim of this article is to review the results of research on engineering ethics in Taiwan and to propose a Science, Technology and Society (STS) approach to the subject. In this article, we will 1) outline the origin and achievements of engineering ethics in Taiwan; 2) comment on popular ideas and recent debates; 3) analyze how ethical conflicts have arisen and been resolved; 4) introduce an STS approach and compare it with the traditional approach to engineering ethics; 5) introduce two case studies of the STS approach; 6) reply to some criticisms of the STS approach.
