The purpose of this study was to explore the intention to administer H1N1 influenza vaccination and its influencing factors among southern Taiwanese middle-aged adults. We used a secondary data analysis to examine the association between educational attainment and the intention to administer vaccination. Participants were recruited from a community health examination held by a hospital in southern Taiwan over the period from April to May in 2010. The related factors regarding H1N1 influenza vaccination were obtained from health examination database. Multiple logistic regression was applied to estimate adjusted odds ratio and 95% confidence interval. The survey indicated that out of all participants, 40.8% (n=148) indicated willingness to administer H1N1 influenza vaccination. Participants with educational attainment above 12(superscript th) grade, having other chronic diseases, with prior experience of vaccination, or perceived self as familiarized with H1N1 influenza vaccination, reported to have higher intent to be vaccinated. The findings were beneficial to pinpoint with lower intention to administer H1N1 influenza vaccination, which will allow the provision of appropriate vaccination strategies and advocate via mass media.
