Pain is a common symptom in childhood cancer patients. Therefore, children need appropriate cancer pain care mode for evaluating the effectiveness of pain control. Although the research and knowledge of pain control are growing rapidly, childhood cancer patient's pain management still has some shortcomings clinically. This article is to review the relevant literatures on current trend of children's pain assessment, which includes pain self-assessment, pain log and questionnaires, behavioral assessment scale and physiological indicators. Pain management consists of drug and non-drug treatments to relieve patient's pain. In order to achieve better pain control, nurses are suggested to use different methods to alleviate patient's pain.
