This essay conducts a descriptive analysis on the impact of political campaigning for the KMT chairmanship and its effects on partisan politics in Taiwan. The first part of this essay attempts to answer why the two candidates (Wan Jin-pyng and Ma Ying-jeou) act differently in terms of their strategies and policy choices. The unfriendly exchanges of rhetoric between two candidates during the campaign created certain resentments which may divide the KMT. The second part of the essay discusses the effects of the campaign on KMT party, its relationships with others parties; and implications for Taiwan's political development.
