This article analyzes the U.S.'s attitude towards China and military strategic layout in Northeast Asia via describing the U.S.'s cognition on the political and military situation in post-Cold War Northeast Asia through a documentary analysis. In addition, to obtain a clearer context of Northeast Asia security development by analyzing the possible response strategies that China may adopt towavds the future stasility of the region.This study concludes that the U.S.'s strategy for strengthening Northeast Asia military alliance relationships is to adopt a containment policy in military issues while simultaneously keeping competitive cooperation in economic dimension. China keeps applying hard and soft power alternately to prevent confronting the U.S. military directly and also to promote economic dependency in neighboring countries actively. Whether or not the future military strategic layout will change, depends on the interplay of national power of both U.S. and China, and the development of U.S.-China-Japan trilateral relation.
