The purpose of this study is to explore differences in perceptions of and preferences for coach leadership behaviors among handicapped billiard players. Further, the study investigates to what extent player perceptions of coach leadership behaviors predict overall satisfaction with leadership behaviors. The subjects of the study are male and female players participating in 2006 National Council on Physical Fitness and Sports Cup Handicapped Billiard Tournament, 85 players in total. A survey is conducted using ”Handicapped Billiard Coach Leadership Behavior Scale” as a research instrument. Statistics methods like descriptive statistics, independent samples t test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) are used to analyze the acquired data. The findings include: 1. With respect to perceptions of coach leadership behaviors, the male wheelchair group of players has the highest perceptions of and preferences for ”democratic behavior”; the lowest perceptions of and preferences for ”autocratic behavior”. 2. The male non-wheelchair group of players has significantly higher perceptions of ”democratic behavior” than those of the female non-wheelchair group. 3. There is no significant difference in preferences for coach leadership behaviors between male and female players. 4. Players with fewer years of experience have higher perceptions of ”democratic behavior” than those with more years of experience.
