The purpose of this pilot study was to explore a woman's life experiences as she cared for her terminally-illed cancer husband. The data was collected through field observation and two in-depth interviews from September, 2006 to January, 2007. By the time, the researcher was the primary nurses for the participant's husband. Using the content analysis method, five themes were identified in the life experiences of the participant. They were: (1) the gradual onset of physical exhaustion; (2) a change in the center focus of life; (3) transformation in the family support system; (4) a sense of anticipation as the time of death approached; (5) a deepening of religious belief. Results of the study provide researchers a preliminary understanding of women's experiences in caring for their husbands who have terminal cancer, and a basic knowledge for the further studies.
