Using the theory of adult learning, we designed a self-care health education program about hypertension for the community. We surveyed the need for a hypertension prevention program, selected the themes, established teaching goals, designed learning objectives, drafted teaching activities, and assessed achievement. The program included knowledge about hypertension, diet, exercise and self-monitoring. This health education project may help the community understand, plan for and implement self-care behaviors for hypertension in daily life.
