With changing demographics, Taiwan's elderly today comprise approximately 9.85% of the total population. How to live not only long but also well is already an important issue. Recently, numerous studies have reported on the effectiveness of group reminiscence therapy in relieving depression, increasing satisfaction with life, and improving participants' mental health. However, developing correct and practical guidelines before promoting nursing intervention and permitting their application of study results is essential and important. Findings were applied to two reminiscence groups in a nursing home for veterans. The results of this study can referenced by nursing staffs leading reminiscence groups in clinical practice and as part of nursing teaching.
