The purpose of this study was to explore cancer patients' perspectives on the Good Nurse. A semi-structured interview method with modified van Kaam's phenomenological approach was used. The participants were 16 cancer patients who had been informed of their diagnosis and had completed at least one course of cancer treatment. A Good Nurse was found to embody three themes: ”treating patients as relatives”, ”being fully professional in discharging the duty to care for individuals”, and ”inspiring patients to offer themselves to help others”. The findings of this study may contribute to improvements not only in nursing education and practice but also in related professions.
