This study investigated the current conditions of exercise attitudes, exercise participation, and health-related quality of life. Data were collected from 564 effective sample respondents who were administered questionnaires. The questionnaire data were analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 software, which included descriptive statistics, a chi-square test, a t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The results are summarized as follows: 1) Most of the university students maintained a positive exercise attitude, particularly for sports achievement orientation, followed by the benefits and exercise inputs. Boys performed higher than girls did, and freshman performed higher than sophomores did. 2) The total score for health-related quality of life was 68.71, which was midlevel. The highest score was for physical functioning and the lowest was for vitality. 3) The university students who exercised more displayed an excellent health-related quality of life compared with those who did not. 4) The exercise attitude was a significant predictor of health-related quality of life. Thus, this study determined that most of the university students recognized the importance of exercise, but failed to perform any exercise. This study also proved that regular exercise can enhance a healthy quality of life. University students should be provided with positive reinforcement to encourage them to participate in regular exercise, particularly sports achievement orientation and internalized independent participation, to achieve a healthy quality of life.
