國小學童英語學習動機量表之編製

The Study of Developing English Learning Motivation Scale for Elementary School Students in Taiwan

摘要


學習英語是目前世界的潮流也是台灣的趨勢,2001年台灣的小五學生開始接受正規英文教育,2005年則向下延伸到小三學生開始學習英文,可見英文在台灣的教育中扮演重要的角色。學習動機是學習的基本要素,沒有動機就沒有學習;若教學者能了解學習者的學習動機,進而可針對動機尋求有利於教學之相關資源,而使學習者的學習成效更加彰顯。然而目前國內尚未有針對國小學童製定的外語學習動機量表,因此有必要編製一套國小學童英語學習動機量表,以了解國小學童學習英語的動機取向,而使從事國小英語教學之相關人員,藉此採用有利國小學習英語的教法與教材,使台灣的英語教育更具成效。

English learning is a world trend. Non-English speaking countries, including Taiwan, try their best to enhance their people's English proficiency. In 2001, the fifth grade students began to learn English formally in Taiwan. In 2005, even the third grade students began to be offered Eng1ish courses in their regular curricula. Obviously, English plays an important role in Taiwan's education. Motivation is the fundamental element in the process of learning. No motivation, no learning. If English teachers understand learners' learning motivation more, they can seek more relevant resources for learning. However, there is no English learning motivation scale for elementary school students. Therefore, it seems necessary to develop an English learning motivation scale to assess learners' English learning motivation, through which English educators could design appropriate programs and apply suitable teaching methods and materials according to learners' learning motivation.
