We shall begin with a brief introduction of how the studies of constitutional systems have been developed in the field of Political Science. After introducing various ways of classifying constitutional systems, we then examine how constitutional choices have been made in modern constitutional movement. Then, the bulk if this article will be devoted to describing the origins and characteristics of presidentialism, parliamentarianism, and semi-presidentialism. Finally, we will compare the merits and flaws of these three systems.
