醫院作為一個現代性建制,凝煉著知識、資本、道德、菁英意識、權力的體系,作為拯救意義而存在的醫院,取代了宗教在舊世紀給予的救贖可能,而取代成新的權力關係。醫院空間被建構為是由醫生與知識體系所構成的絕對權威為主軸,然而卻忽略了在醫院空間中奔走的病人,其實也一同形構了醫院空間的意義,因此醫/病空間應該指涉著醫/病關係中,意識交流所能及的一切空間。而在台灣當代小說所形構的醫/病空間中,醫院成為黑暗的權力淵藪、瘋狂的競技場、慾望的展示場,莽莽的權力之慾與生之慾相互交縱著,而不論是醫生或病人,只能不斷地在知識體系的高度支配下迷途、夢遊,甚至瘋狂地陷入權力競逐的泥淖,而終無法脫出。
Hospital is the modern system, which cements knowledge, capital, morality, elite ideology and power. The hospital replaces the religion in the old century and becomes the new symbol of salvation.The hospital is always constructed as the absolute authoritative sphere, which is formed by doctors and the body of knowledge. However, the role and significance of patients are ignored in the sphere of hospital. The patients, moving about the hospital, actually contribute to the meaning of hospital space and help set up medical authority.The hospital space thus comprises the doctor and patient. In the novel of nineties in Taiwan, the positivism-backed hospital was described as the fantastic space, which seemed to be the dark abyss of power, crazy arena and the showcase of desire.
