Syman Rapongan’s works mainly portray tribal craftsmanship to manifest the traditional craftsmanship and lifestyle of Taos. This paper, titled "Being Taos/Tao people" unfolds Syman Rapongan’s craftsmanship depiction to show that craftsmanship , in addition to the symbol of being Taos/Tso people, is also a kind of tribal knowledge. More importantly, the meaning of "people" is not just an empty spiritual body. In his works, Syman Rapongan carried out the meaning specifically on the revelation and expansion of physical sensations. Furthermore, he testified that a body is the origin of identity. From the perspective, we are able to understand that "aesthetics" in Syman Rapongan’s works is not a hollow concept, but it stresses that people’s (bodies’) keen feelings in natural state and perception and action in response to the changes in the environment.
