Since badminton was listed as an official Olympic event in 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, badminton has been a major development sport in Taiwan. Due to the excellent performance in the international badminton competitions, Taiwanese players have won worldwide recognition over and over again. Senior high school is a critical stage for fostering outstanding players. The case example, Keelung Senior High (KLSH), is one of the six key schools of badminton development, cultivating a number of first-rate players including world top 8 badminton men's double players and 17 Taiwan Badminton Division A players. This study aimed to research into the management strategies of the KLSH badminton team, analyze the operations of its related organizations, and clarify its training mode for players and how the coaches run the team. The result will serve as a reference for related sports teams. The research method is based on grounded study, trying to form the theoretical explanatory framework by collecting the management strategies of KLSH badminton team through original materials, interview with relevant persons, and researcher's nine-year field study experience as a badminton player and a coach. The study results were as follows. First of all, since the establishment of KLSH badminton team in 1997, the effective integration of five different resources- KLSH administrative organizations, parents support group, Keelung Badminton Committee, VICTOR Corporation, TCB-bank- has gradually led the team to excellence. Second, every year this team recruits medium-high level new members mainly from badminton teams in Taipei City. After the coaches give these players rigorous Indonesia-style training which emphasizes basic skills and footwork, 17 of these players have successfully made into the Taiwan Badminton Division A and stood out on the international stage within nine years. Nevertheless, the frequent change of coaches also has caused the ups and downs of the performance of KLSH badminton team.
