老人人際親密、社會參與及心理健康狀況之相關研究

A Study of the Relationships among Interpersonal Intimacy, Social Participation, and Mental Health in the Elderly

摘要


本研究旨在探討老人人際親密、社會參與及心理健康狀況之相關。採用問卷調查法,使用「人際親密量表」、「社會活動參與量表」與「簡式健康表BSRS-5」為研究工具,以台北市某醫院參與健檢老人為對象進行調查,共取得有效樣本305人。本研究獲得的發現與結論如下:參與研究老人之人際親密及心理健康現況良好,社會參與程度較低。不同性別的老人人際親密、社會參與和心理健康狀況之差異:女性老人在人際親密及社會參與高於男性,心理健康狀況則差於男性。老人人際親密、社會參與和心理健康狀況之相關:老人人際親密與社會參與有顯著相關;老人人際親密與心理健康狀況無顯著相關;老人社會參與和心理健康狀況無顯著相關。最後,研究者根據本研究結果進行討論,並建議老人積極主動參與社會服務活動,透過人際互動和生活互助,一方面可回饋社會,另一方面,可提升生活品質,促進身心健康。

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships among interpersonal intimacy, social participation, and mental health in the elderly. The survey data were collected from one hospital in Taipei. Three hundred and five older people completed a survey packet consisting of three standardized instruments. Standardized instruments included the Interpersonal Intimacy Scale, the Social Participation Questionnaire, and the 5-item Brief Symptom Rating Scale (BSRS-5). The major findings are as follows. Regarding participants' gender, female elders have significantly higher average rating of interpersonal intimacy, social participation than male elders. Male elders have significantly higher average rating of mental health than female elders. Interpersonal intimacy is significantly positive correlated with social participation. No significant correlation between interpersonal intimacy and mental health. No significant correlation between social participation and mental health either. Implications based on the findings are provided for elderly, senior education, and counselor. Social activities and volunteer works are encouraged for the elderly to improve their interpersonal interactions and mental health. Limitations of this study and suggestions for future study are discussed.
