Constipation is one of the most common complaints at the Chinese medicine clinic. Constipation has been defined as a stool frequency of three or less than three per week. A prevalence of 12 to 19 percent (average 15 percent) has been reported in most studies, and constipation is more prevalent in women, and those over age 60. This patient is a 25-year-old female nurse. At first visit, her stool frequency was two to three per week, then after evaluation she was diagnosed in chinese medicine patterns which is insufficiency of yin humor. Based on TCM treatment principle, we treat with humor-increasing moist precipitation and cold precipitation for heat-bind constipation. After eight weeks treatment, her symptom improved of stool frequency of 4 to 6 per week. We demonstrated the experience in this case report for clinical reference and application.
