The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in demographic data and disease characteristics of patients with metabolic syndrome for TCM syndrome types. This cross-sectional correlational study used purposive sampling to enroll a total of 161 patients at the outpatient clinic of metabolism in a certain regional teaching hospital in the northern Taiwan as the subjects, with 81 male and 80 female patients. The research results showed, the mean age was 62.66 years old, the mean weight was 78.02 kg, and the mean waist circumference was 99.22 cm. TCM syndromes accounted for the majority of qi deficiency (38.5%) and yin deficiency (12.4%). In the future, we can understand the difference between demographics and diseases and TCM syndromes through TCM syndrome differentiation. Nursing staff can further develop a series of measures for metabolic abnormalities of qi deficiency, and provide health care information to patients through traditional Chinese medicine to achieve health. Promote, prevent and reduce the occurrence of metabolic diseases.
