Pulmonary rehabilitative exercise can enhance lung ventilation and activity endurance. This paper described the nursing experiences of a patient with COPD during ventilator weaning at intensive care unit. The nursing period was from March 22, 2012 to April 2, 2012 and the authors applied collected direct care, observations, empathy inquired, interviewed families, and chart review along with use of Roy's adaptation model. Results from this nursing experiences found that patients had ineffective breathing pattern, activity intolerance, and disturbed sleep pattern health problems. During the period of hospitalization, the author provided lung rehabilitation training, individualized rehabilitation program, adjusting environment arrangement, peaceful conditions, positive thinking and maintain support system to help successful weaning ventilator. This experience could be a reference for clinical care to similar patients in the future.
