Thighs' Abscesses Formation After Effective Therapy of B. pseudomallei Bacteremia: A Case Report
類鼻疽菌血症有效治療後於大腿發生膿瘍：病例報告
摘要
類鼻疽好發於雨季且流行於東南亞及北澳洲地區。其病原為屬於革蘭氏陰性桿菌的Burkholderia pseudomallei。此病菌特別容易感染有潛在性疾病的人，尤其是糖尿病患。病人常有接觸污水或泥濘的病史。臨床症狀呈現多樣性，從急性猛爆性敗血症到輕微的慢性局部感染均可見。在此，我們報告一位類鼻疽菌血症患者，在接受有效的抗生素治療後於大腿發生膿瘍的病例。

Melioidosis is a disease of the rainy season and is endemic to Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. The infection is caused by gram-negative bacillus, Burkholderia (B) pseudomallei. It mostly affected on people with the underlying conditions, especially diabetic mellitus. There is often a history of percutaneous inoculation via contaminated water and wet soil. The clinical manifestations of melioidosis vary widely, range from acute fulminant septicemia to chronic debilitating localized infection. We here reported a patient of melioidosis presenting as thighs' abscess formation after effective antibiotic therapy of B. pseudomallei bacteremia.
