並列摘要

This paper aims to study the political thought of non-action of Hon-wang (Sage). First, I shall explain the concept of non-action and its significance, and then move on to examine such concept in the text of Tao Te Ching. Secondly, I will argue that the concept of non-action is the core of the sage's political thought of non-action. There are four dimensions, including the relation between Hou-wang and his non-action, the characteristic of the sage, non-action as the sage's method of governing the people, and the goal of being natural and of non-action in which a well-order country lies. In the third part of my paper, I will continue to analyze the politics of non-action in many different aspects, such as politics, law, economy, social values and education. In the forth, the sage's military operations will be discussed. Then, the focus of my paper in the fifth will be the statement of governing the people with non-action, which underscores the ideal of a small country with few people. Finally, I will analyze the advantage of governing the people with non-action and its blind spot which is overlooked.
