The purpose of this paper is to analyze the marginal uses of the "(noun)ni/tonaru" expression s in Japanese. In my analys is (2005), I have found that the "(noun)ni/tonaru" expression h as prototypical meaning of change-of-state, besides it has several kinds of non-prototypical meaning. The main discussion of this paper includes passive use, spontaneous use, potential use, and respectful use related to the change-of-state sentences either in construction or in meaning.
