談談美國中文教學的近況

Teaching Chinese in the United States: A Brief Discussion of Some Recent Developments

摘要


在臺灣攻讀對外華語教學的同學有許多人希望前往美國執教,可是不一定了解美國中文教學的情況和美國外語教學的趨勢。本文旨在為有意前往美國任教的同學們提供一些美國中文教學界的信息,首先介紹一下美國不同類型的中文課程,其次介紹一下美國外語教學界的潮流以及對中文教學界具有極大影響的AP中文課程。最後略述美國中小學中文教師的資格。

Most of the students here in Taiwan majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language often would like to go to the United States of America to teach after graduation. However they might not be familiar with the situations of Chinese language instruction and the current trend of foreign language instruction in the United States. This paper intends to provide those who wish to teach in the United States with some information concerning Chinese language instruction there. First I will introduce several different types of Chinese language programs in the U.S. Next I will introduce the Standards for foreign language learning in the 21st century and how the field of Chinese language instruction is following the standards, and also the newly established AP Chinese program. Finally, I will briefly introduce the qualifications of Chinese language teachers for teaching at the secondary schools.
