With the increasing problems of food safety, we found pesticides that contaminate in our daily food have led to permanent and potential harms to our health. Thus, developing organic farming can not only protect our environment and the ecology but offer healthy and safe products to the consumers. Even though we have high percentage of cultivated lands in Tainan now, there are only a few farmers participating in organic farming. On this area, it still needs to take efforts to improve the situation. Through the research on interviewing and observing the cases of small land-holding farmers in Tainan, we explore the difficulties of developing organic farming and then conclude ten main factors that obstruct the development of organic farming. Based on the studies, we hope to improve the problem of food safety and consequently increase the percentage of organic farming. In this way, we would hopefully promote the favorable cycle among health, food safety, and environment.
