台灣「多元」文化教育與杜威「民主」教育
Multi-cultural Education in Taiwan and Dewey's Democratic Education
摘要
多元文化教育在台灣有其發展的特殊性，本文旨在探究台灣多元文化教育理念中「多元」「關係」之教育意涵。關於台灣多元文化教育與杜威民主教育思想的連結，採取的不是要將杜威民主教育思想應用在台灣多元文化教育實踐的取徑；而是在理論內涵上，以杜威民主教育思想之內涵，思索台灣在民主化過程裡，多元文化教育理念中關於「多元」「關係」之教育意涵，期能從教育哲學的角度探究一條另類於政治哲學論述的多元文化教育思路。因此，本文透過杜威民主教育哲學在人類學、倫理學與認識理論上的討論，探究其對台灣當代多元文化教育理論補充之可能性。最後，本文建議以生態永續的地球公民視野拓展多元文化教育的「關係性」思維，開展「多元」文化教育「關係」之公民美學。

This essay considers the relational implications of multi-cultural education in Taiwan. As for the connection between Dewey's democratic education theory and Taiwan's multi-cultural education, the essay doesn't intend to apply the former to the latter. The author believes that Dewey's democratic education theory (in anthropology, ethnics, and knowing theory) can enrich the relational meanings of multi-cultural education theory and reveal an alternative way that differs from political philosophy. Finally, this essay suggests that we can theoretically extend Dewey's transactional/relational thinking to the thinking of earth citizenship in Taiwan.
