產品設計-對創作物的詮釋方法及其應用案例

Product Design: An Alternative Way of Interpretation and Its Applications

摘要


產品是人為加工的「物質形體」,其構成要素可概分為:機能、結構和視覺涵意。然而,創作人在處理設計時,又會針對「人性向度」,在使用、認知和美感…等層面上,做出獨特的綜合判斷,使「創作物」不只真備了客觀用途,而且還融入了創作人的主觀意圖、不自覺的欲望或其在時空境遇中的偶發靈感。這意謂著,一件具有獨特性或原創性的產品設計,除了需要把握產品的構成要素外,更在於它必然攜帶著創作人欲之存在的差異意義。基於上述看法,本文乃嘗試探討,如何能透過「詮釋方法」來綜理一個創作物的多層面意義,使有助於解讀者開展設計學習的視域融合。在研究方法上,首先參採相關的文獻觀點並加以評估與引用,藉以釐定「詮釋方法」之於「設計創作物」的四項步驟:描述、理解、反思與擬想,使其步驟各有指涉涵意和作用關係。其次,審視創作物的殊異性並例舉5件產品,進行詮釋方法的應用與試寫。最後,期使本文所提議的方法步驟和案例說明,可為設計教學、創作論文或設計專業,提供另一種解讀「創作物」或引發「新思維」的參考或啟發途徑。

Creation is a processed material form which is made possible artificially with the constructing elements of function, structure, and visual sense. Still, while in treating design, a creator will also have to aim to dimension of human triages such as usability, cognition and aesthetic perception to make unique yet comprehensive judgment so that the creation possesses the objective use and its creator's subjective intention, along with his/her unconscious desire and the inspiration initiated by the space-time continuum. This means that a distinctive and original product design, other than all those constructing elements, should take along the existing divergent forms and infused creative meaning of the creator as well. Based on the foregoing viewpoints, this study intends to probe into the question of how to handle the multi-layered correlation of the meanings of a creation and how to interpret and unfold the fusion of visions from various perspectives in design learning through the adoption of a hermeneutical approach. In terms of method employed, a literature review will first be carried out to test and, later on, clarify the operability, applicability and inference of the four steps of description, understanding, reflection, and envision of hermeneutical approach to a designed product. Following that, a scan of 5 case products of heterogeneous nature will be conducted as sample-runs to explain their applications. In conclusion, it is intended to offer an alternative way of interpreting a creation in design teaching, creative thesis writing, and professional designing through the proposed methods and procedures and explanations of cases. It is also intended to trigger a path to refer to and some enlightenment for the "new thinking" in the future product design.
