Chronicles and Fables: Poetic Narratives in Print Textile Pattern Design

並列摘要

By regarding textile patterns as bi-dimensional images that are transformed in a tridimensional printed fabric, this article looks into the author's personal interpretation of the diverse sensible interactions between the poetic image and the construction of semantic and visual narratives in pattern design. Following the concepts of Narrative and Structure, it is regarded that this creative process evolves from a poetic sketch towards the linguistic manipulation of the motif through to its organization as plots and blocks. At last the motif organized in a structure of repetition (rapport) becomes a pattern, generating the textile pattern printed in fabric that, eventually, is transformed in a textile object, thus affording the generation of pleasing living spaces that playa role in stimulating our poetic imagination.
