This purposes of this study was to explore the difference of the expectation of sports, the value of sports and the motivation of participating in PE class as seen aboriginal and hans high school students in Chia-yi. The theory of expectancy-value and the theory of self-determination are applied to make comparison between structures of expectation, structures of value and the motivation of joining in the PE class as seen in high schools of different tribes. The subjects are 190 students, from Chia-yi County's and Chia-yi City's high schools where the aboriginal students are more than other schools. The research tools are ”The sports expectancy & value scale in teenagers” and ”the scale of motivation in PE class”, to measure the subjects' distinctions in structures of expectation, structures of value and the motivation in PE class. The research results are as follows: 1. Aboriginal and hans high school students have differences in expectation of ability, needed efforts, psychological cost, the cost of other important persons' expectation, and task value. 2. Aboriginal and hans high school students have differences in internal motivation when participating in PE class, but make no differences in introjected regulation, external regulation, and non-motivation.
