The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of intervention of baseball fundamental pitching drill programs on baseball target pitching performance and distance throwing. The participants in this study were 30 Sijhih junior high school baseball players. After homogeneity testing, some players were assigned to be an experimental group (n=15) and the other were assigned to be a control group (n=15). The experimental group was adopted pitching drills of baseball training practices designed by the American Baseball Association which contains 7 specific pitching drills. The control group adopted the traditional training methods. In order to investigate data in this study, the assessment of softball and baseball skill tests (John & Nelson, 1979) was used in this study. Before and after the intervention of ten weeks baseball fundamental pitching skill programs (three times a week, 50 minutes each session), subjects completed the assessment of softball and baseball skill tests in pretest and posttest. Statistic analyzing method, independent t-test, and paired sampling t-test in this study were used to statistically analyze the data obtained. The primary result of baseball target pitching performance revealed the subjects of experimental group got a significant higher score than ones of controlled group. Based on the results of this study, some suggestions were proposed for the junior high school baseball coaches and the future researches.
