This article argues that the Venezuelan experience illustrates very well the difficulties the Latin American societies are facing to raise their standard of living, to enjoy political freedoms, through appropriate institutions and transparent administrations, and to achieve international recognition with independence from the world powers. It aims to analyze the current scenario of the region by analzying the recent and important changes that kye states have experienced.
