國中科學教科書中「物質」及其複合詞之分析

An Analysis of the Word "Material" and Its Compound Words in Science Textbooks in Secondary School

摘要


有些生活中常見詞彙在科學教科書中常被使用,這些詞彙所衍生出來的複合詞亦經常出現,雖然這些詞彙的使用情形以及其背後所具有的複合規則並非顯而易見,但是這些詞彙如何介紹與其組合規則對於讀者對概念理解的重要性卻不容忽略,本文主要即在於以「物質」此詞彙作為例子,透過CKIP以及STA兩套電腦程式,來探討物質及其複合詞在科學教科書中的使用情形及它們的複合規則。研究結果發現科學教科書中「物質」及其衍生之複合詞構成了相當龐大的概念系統,而且這些詞彙所衍生之複合詞在語法組態與語意類別上均表現出不同的複合規則,然而教科書對此方面之說明有所不足。因此研究結果除了呈現出科學教科書中關於物質此詞彙之使用情形以其複合詞之複合規則之外,亦建議日後教科書編寫或是教師教學上,應該注意教科書中有關這些詞彙的使用以及其複合詞所形成複合規則,以促進學生對於這些詞彙的相關概念有進一步之理解。

Some words and their compound words are used frequently in science textbooks. However, it seems not obvious to know immediately their usage and the compounding rules from reading the content of textbooks only. The ways of introducing these compound words may play a central role for readers' understanding of the concepts deployed in the text. This study takes the word ”material” as an example, aims to examine the usages of the word and its compound words and their compounding rules in science textbooks in secondary school by two computer programs-CKIP and STA.The results reveal that compound words derived from ”material” in textbooks can be divided into four combinative and syntactic types, and five semantic categories. The stems of these compound words also can be divided into four parts of speech (POS) structures, and the phenomenon of POS transformation are found in these parts. In addition, science textbooks have used the word ”material” and its compound words before introducing their definition formally. Most of their meanings, however, are not explained clearly yet. This may easily lead pupils to misunderstand the meanings of these words. Therefore, to provide more explicit definitions and even the compound rules about these words is necessary for pupils. The editors for science textbooks and science teachers in school also need to pay more attentions for the deployment of the compound words of some keywords that students may get confuse easily when editing science textbooks and teaching with them.
