Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) are one of the most accepted battery prime movers. The vehicle traction battery shall be deteriorated in chemical degradation both cycle lifetime and preservation lifetime. A battery is focused on a Nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery which is widely used as traction energy storage in HEVs. This study examined that AC impedance response analysis is applied to verify the battery deterioration in lifetime cycle test in two types of Ni-MH batteries, which are a super lattice structure and a nominal AB5 one. The examination condition sets that HEVs drive JC08 mode to estimate a real world usage. This study unraveled following knowledge. The AC impedance measurement method can verify AB5 alloy type battery in progress of deterioration. Super lattice alloy type battery shall be introduced further more effective and practical verification method.
