摘要
十七世紀到十九世紀之間氣體動力論發展的歷史背景提供吾人對粒子論科學概念發展一個縱觀。本文考察機械論的興起，空間概念及真空的研究，大氣壓力的了解以及有關熱理論的發展史。它們都影響到十九世紀初時，氣體動力論的興起。

Historical backgrounds of the development of kinetic theory of gas give us a view of the evolution from corpuscular philosophy to kinetic theory of heat. We examine the rise of mechanical philosophy, concept of space and vacuum, understanding of atomosphere pressure and early theory of heat. They influenced strongly the rise of kinetic theory of matter in early nineteenth century.
