Because polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable material derived from renewable feed stocks, it has been widely used in many fields from agriculture packings to medical materials. This article summarized the recent developments of polylactides as well as their preparation and properties. The application and prospect of polylactides in medicine, industry and chemistry research are also discussed.
