According to Eccles’s expectancy-value theory, individual’s expectancy of success and subjective task value were the valid predictors of achievement behaviors. The purpose of this study was to examine the sport expectancy and value belief to predict the recreational involvement of senior high schools’ students. The instrument of this study was the recreation sport expectancy-value scale. The subjects were the 341 participants who all completed it. The result of this study showed that the scores of the "ability expectancy" scale could predict the amount of recreation involved (p<.05). In conclusion, the sport expectancy ability of high schools’ students was the prediction of the recreational involvement, and this result was not enough to support the Eccles’s concept of Expectancy-Value Theory.
