由複雜度的觀點探討藝術展覽品之佈置

Artistic Exhibition Design from the Viewpoint of Complexity

摘要


一直以來,有關美學與藝術的空間設計,大多數是來自於設計師本身的設計經驗。而這種以經驗為導向所造成的藝術美學價值,往往缺乏一套可應用與遵循的模式來加以實作或落實。本研究所探討的雕塑藝術品配置模式(Deploying Statues Model-DSs Model)不僅將群眾的參觀路線、需佈置雕塑藝品的總數、雕塑藝術品的大小,以及雕塑藝品彼此間最小容許的距離均納入考量,更技巧性的將雕塑藝術品在展覽空間中的擺設位置規劃出來,以追求藝術與美學的展現。對大多數的設計師來說,一個藝術空間設計的成功與否,往往來自於是否具有簡潔與明快的視覺效果,以便投射給觀眾一場舒適的藝術饗宴。因此本研究嘗試以「簡單就是美」作為空間美學的主要假設,並藉由計算空間複雜度,來作為空間簡單性衡量的一項標準。至於空間複雜度衡量之方式則採用碎形維度(Fractal Dimension)之觀念,藉由計算展示區的碎形維度,來評估展示佈置是否符合簡單美感之概念。除此之外,本文運用福傳程式(Fortran Program)發展出一套計算智慧(Computational Intelligence),來實施藝術展覽品擺設位置的設計工具。接著,以位於臺灣嘉義市的祥太文教基金會文化館(Hosanna Museum)所提供的展示空間與欲展覽的雕塑藝術品數目做為實例施測的對象,並透過專家意見的詢問,顯示出本研究所提出之計算智慧在雕塑藝術品展覽空間設計的初始思索過程(佈置點位的決定)中,扮演極具價值性與參考性的角色。

The arrangement of sculptures or statues in an exhibition area is usually based on the exhibit designer’s experience. There are no simple or applicable criteria to determine whether such arrangements are adequate. The proposed model, Deploying Statues (DSs) Model, not only applies fractal dimension to measure spatial complexity, but also considers the traffic flow, the number of statues, the average diameter of the statues, and the minimum allowable distance between statues to arrange the spatial configuration of statues in an exhibition area. Minimal complexity (fractal dimension) is required, because exhibit designers deem that spatial simplicity leads to effective presentation of artistic meaning, esthetics and good visual effects. This paper describes an applicable aspect of fractal dimension. In addition, a computational intelligence (CI) written in Fortran Program that performs spatial arrangement of sculptures in an exhibition area is provided, and its adaptability has been proven by actual use by experts. A case study of the Hosanna Museum in Chiayi, Taiwan was carried out, and is expected to play a valuable role in the pre-stage thinking process for exhibit designers in their arrangement of exhibits.
