The distribution of the recently described Rhacophorus aurantiventris was thought to be restricted to the type locality in the northern Taiwan. However, four specimens, including the first female, of this species were collected from Chihben, Taitung Co., eastern Taiwan, on May 23, 1995. This seems to indicate that R. aurantiventris exhibits a pattern of fragmented distribution within Taiwan. Results of comparisons of male and female specimens suggest the possible presence of sexual dimorphism in body size, nuptial pad condition and spinule distribution on the dorsum, but not in coloration.
