Investigating Collaborative Problem-Solving Processes by Analyzing Sequential Patterns in a Synchronous Discussion Task

網路合作問題解決歷程之探究──以線上同步討論活動為例

摘要


This study aims to explore the sequential patterns of the online problem solving process, and further explores the differences between high- and low-performing teams. A total of 76 high school students participated, and sequential analysis was applied to analyze their behavioral patterns. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to further understand the perceptions of the participants. The results indicated that the high performing teams exhibited significant "Organizing and forming conclusions" in the process of online problem solving, while the low-performing teams displayed a significant sequence of "Propose, define, and clarify problem" to "Provide solutions or information for possible answers." The interview data suggest several underlying reasons for the poor results of the low-performing teams including the fact that they were not used to taking part in online discussion activities.

本研究之目的在探討網路合作問題解決之互動模式,並進一步比較高表現與低表現之小組在互動模式上的差異情形。研究對象為對臺灣地區北部兩所普通高中一年級兩班學生共76人。線上同步討論活動在電腦教室中實施共80分鐘,採取隨機分派的方式進行分組,每組約3~4人;線上同步討論之任務為規劃一個迎新社團活動,包括行程、活動規劃以及預算等。本研究於線上討論活動後一週進行個別訪談,以了解參與者對此活動之主觀經驗與想法。線上討論互動模式之分析,採取序列分析的方法比較高表現與低表現小組在互動模式的差異情形。結果發現,高表現小組在互動模式上展現較多歸納與形成結論的行為;低表現小組在互動模式上展現初階段的序列行為;同時根據訪談資料,更進一步了解高表現與低表現小組成員的經驗與建議,例如某些低表現小組成員表示不習慣網路互動等。依據結果本研究提出未來研究與教學之建議。
