The ten-practice-vows of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva show the common standards of practice for people who believe in Mahayana Buddhism. As the essence of Avataṃsakasūtra, the ten-practice-vows are regarded as important by later Buddhists. This paper investigates the formation of the ten-practice-vows through a study on the explanation by Indian, Chinese and Tibetan Buddhism.
