摘要

唐代比丘尼的出家前身份可大致分為四類，即皇族宗親、士族妻女、平民女子、歌妓。唐代女性出家的原因亦可大致分為四點，即篤信佛教、消災除病、親人去世、家庭貧困。

Bhiksuni nuns in Tang Dynasty came from different backgrounds, which can be roughly divided into four types: clan relatives of the royal family, wives or daughters of gentries, civilian women and geishas. The reasons for their conversion to Buddhism can also be divided into four types: belief in Buddhism, wish to keep disease and disasters away, mourning for deceased relatives, or poverty of the family.
