摘要

趙樸初先生是中國近現代佛教事業最重要的護持者與實踐者之一。文革後歷任中國佛教協會會長、政協副主席等要職，成為上世紀80年代中國佛教復興中，舉足輕重的人物。國史上歷次佛教復興，都離不開重構信仰生活與振興佛教學術這兩大方面的作為；自上世紀80年代起，趙樸老就積極奔走大江南北，為恢復各地名剎付出心血；同時，他積極呼籲倡議開辦新式僧學，培養選拔僧才。更為難得的是，樸老著力在學界推進佛教歷史、文獻、義理的專業研究，還積極把學者學僧請進來、走出去，將新中國佛教學術研究，帶上了現代國際學術的軌道。這種學術與信仰並重的佛教復興手段，在80年代的中國，不僅難能可貴，更是具有劃時代意義的；樸老的這些舉動也與明末清初（1573－1659）及晚清民國（1866－1945）佛教復興的內在理路相一致。口述者李家振先生為樸老生前助手，通過回憶自己在樸老身邊的所見所想，展示了樸老中國當代佛教大護法大居士的形象。

Mr. Zhao Puchu is one of the most important protectors and practitioners of modern Chinese Buddhism. After the Cultural Revolution, he served as the president of the Chinese Buddhist Association and the vice chairman of the CPPCC, and became a pivotal figure in the revival of Chinese Buddhism in the 1980s. The revival of Buddhism in the history of the country is inseparable from the two aspects of reconstructing the life of faith and revitalizing Buddhism. Since the 1980s, Zhao Puchu run round from the north to south of the country, and has worked hard to restore the famous local temples. He actively called for the initiative to hold new school of buddhism and select talents monks. What is even more rare is that Mr. Zhao has made great efforts to promote the professional study of Buddhism history, literature and ethics in the academic circles. He also actively invites scholars to come in and go out, and bring the academic research of New China Buddhism to the track of modern international scholarship. This kind of Buddhist revival method with equal emphasis on both academics and beliefs is not only valuable but also epoch-making in China in the 1980s; these actions of Mr. Zhao are also related to the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties (1573-1659) and the late Qing Dynasty to The Republic (1866-1945) The inner rationale of Buddhist revival is consistent. The narrator, Mr. Li Jiazhen, is an assistant to Mr. Zhao. By recalling what he saw and thoughts around Mr. Zhao, he showed the image of great Buddhism.
