The technique of "painting enamel" originated from the West, and the exact time when it was introduced into China is unknown. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, the technique of "painting enamel" entered China through the Maritime Silk Road, and was deeply loved by the royal family of the Qing Dynasty. During the Reign of Emperor Kangxi, the emperor ordered the development of innovative enamels, which led to the creation of enamels for porcelain embryo paintings. This paper takes "metal painting enamel" and "porcelain painting enamel" as the research object. The artistic characteristics of the two kinds of painting enamel are compared and analyzed. On this basis, the influence of western painting enamel art on China and the absorption and innovation of foreign art in China are discussed.
