戰後初期臺灣電影評論研究--以《臺灣新生報》為分析場域(1946-1950)

摘要


本論文以戰後初期臺灣發行量最大,也是首份官營性質報紙《臺灣新生報》作為中心,透過釐析該報刊載與電影相關的專題報導和評論文章,探討當時臺灣電影文化與電影相關評論的發展狀況。   根據篇章內容,本文共分三大主題依次進行考察:首先,經由爬梳戰後初期臺灣電影政策,並對照《臺灣新生報》上電影相關新聞報導後,可知當時該報作為官方媒體,言論立場主要採取附和國家的文藝政策,進而在行文間反覆將「電影」形塑成「宣傳工具」的功能,此即當時電影被賦予的「定位」;其次,觀察戰後初期臺灣民眾「認識」電影的面向,《臺灣新生報》的電影文字作者或翻譯美國資訊,或分享實際經驗,一方面輸入好萊塢體系生態、電影製作技術及電影發展歷史,一方面則為中外明星各自建構不同的紙上形象,中國名角被打造成臺灣民眾的道德行為楷模,好萊塢影星則形塑為提升報紙銷售額的看板人物;最後,閱讀《臺灣新生報》上電影評論,發現戰後初期影評人不論作品出產地區為何,其「觀賞」電影時著重的影片美學和評價標準,均視「反映社會現實」與「發揮教育作用」為優秀電影必備條件,而其中又以白克、茵露與葛丁三位,是當時臺灣電影評論界相當活躍的影評人。   綜上所述,戰後初期《臺灣新生報》上的電影文字作者,一方面服務執政當局,呼應國家政策,一方面協助報社營運,設法提高民眾關注度,一方面又向社會大眾傳播電影知識,並分享自身觀影心得,足見其身處臺灣電影百年史與臺灣電影評論發展過程中,功能多元且位置重要。凡此種種,藉由本文的整理分析,希冀能呈顯出戰後初期臺灣電影文化之一隅。

This presenting thesis investigates the movie-related materials on Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily News, the biggest newspaper and the first government-run printing media in the early post-war period in Taiwan. By analyzing the features, reviews and critical essays of films appearing in Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily News, this research aims at investigating the development of the film culture and movie reviews in Taiwan at the time.   The analysis is divided into three different parts. First, movie reviews on Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily News were written according to the national policy, and thus continuously shaped the movies as propagandist tools. In the next place, these reviewers also wrote many features introducing knowledge about films, by either translating information from America or sharing practical experiences. In these articles, they import Hollywood culture, films technology, and the history and development of film art, but they at the same time introduce Chinese and Western movie stars in different manners: the former was views as moral models, while the latter was merely treated as the cash cow for the newspaper sales. Last but not the least, by reading the film reviews on Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily News thoroughly, readers can see the aesthetic standard regarding films at the time. No matter where the movie was produced, the film critics evaluated movies in terms of its presentation of reality and educational meaning. Among the critics, Bai Ke, Yin Lu and Ge Ding are the three most active and renowned.   In short, the movie critics on Taiwan Shin Sheng Daily News in the early-post war period not only comply the governmental policy, aided the newspaper business by raising social concerns, but also shared with the public all kinds of the filmic knowledge and theirs insight on movies. This thesis aims at showing the importance of these review/ers in the history of Taiwanese films and the development of movie reviews in Taiwan, providing an alternative aspect of the Taiwanese films of the early post-war period.
