Abstract With the increasing of CPU speed and the improvement of heat dissipation technology, the distance between the notebook computer and desktop computer performance gets shorter and shorter. In addition of the advantage of appearance and easy-carrying, notebook has already had a trend of replacing desktop computer on the market. How to improve performance further on the existing structure, even surmounting the desktop computer, is the direction that each researcher and developer must face and think. This thesis mainly deals with notebook computer structure today and analyzes the bottleneck at the speed, points out the reason why hard disk performance is slower in the system and potential problem of security. In the next step I will study further RAID feasibility of applying to notebook computer and discuss on what kind of grade is comparatively suitable? We will propose the improved RAID 0+1 architecture to raise the speed and reach the requirement of back-up for the materials finally. Certainly in order to express the change of performance and items that should be paid attention to in the design concretely, I use Ali’s M5283 and M5281, high speed access host control chips, to simulate on a system. Through experiments in the entity to understand the probable questions that might be run into. According to the analyzing data, a notebook computer system structure with better hard disk performance can be achieved.
