The research aims to analyze the commercial relationship between Nicaragua and the United States of America throughout CAFTA-DR (Central America- Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement) and its impacts the economy and the domestic politics of Nicaragua. The main argument of the research is that CAFTA-DR has been a very important tool for the economic development of Nicaragua having a positive impact in the most important sectors of Nicaraguan economy, however until the moment the FTA have not showed any impact in the politics of the country and it have not been able to spread the values of democracy, freedom and improve the rule of law in the region.
