加勒比海國家區域整合的政治經濟
Regional Integration and the Caribbean’s Political Economy
摘要
位於南北美洲之間的加勒比海地區由許多小島國組成，都致力於發展其相對較小的經濟體。做為度假的重要區域之一，該地區以歐洲強權為主，主要是法國，英國， 荷蘭和西班牙。經歷這些國家一段時期的殖民統治，經濟穩定方面做得相當好，但一些地區的貧困水平隨著醫療保健和投資等領域的發展不足而顯現。許多加勒比國家高度依賴外國直接投資，為實現可持續發展的目標，已經建立了一些從金融到社會和政治的區域機構，比如加勒比共同體已經為區域主義鋪平了道路。區域組織對加勒比的政治經濟產生了深遠的影響。本文通過專注於加勒比共同體兩個成員國聖露西亞，聖文森及格瑞那丁以及該組織如何塑造加勒比的政治經濟來分析加勒比地區的一體化。

The Caribbean region, nestled between North and South America, consist of many small island states all striving to develop their relatively small economies. Popularly known to be one of the major regions as a destination spot for holidays and vacation, the region had gone through its period of colonialism from European powers mainly France, Britain, Netherlands and Spain to do fairly well in maintaining stable economies. But levels of poverty in some areas are visible along with under-development in areas such as healthcare and investment. Many Caribbean countries are highly dependent on foreign direct investment. The common goal to achieve sustainable development has established a number of regional institutions from financial to social and to political. Organizations like CARICOM (Caribbean Community) has paved the way for regionalism. Regional organizations have profound impact on the Caribbean’s Political Economy. This thesis analyzes regional integration in the Caribbean by specifically focusing on two CARICOM member states St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines and how the organization has shaped the Caribbean’s political economy.
