數位保存模擬策略與詮釋資料之關係研究

摘要


本研究主要探討保存性詮釋資料(Preservation Metadata)與數位資訊長期保存策略之關係,目的在於瞭解如何將保存性詮釋資料與保存策略結合運用,使數位保存工作能更加完善。保存性詮釋資料是各種詮釋資料中,與數位保存最為相關的一類,國外許多數位保存計畫已將其視為長期保存工作之基礎,而國內目前對於這方面的研究與應用則較為不足,故研究者企盼以研究保存性詮釋資料在保存策略執行過程中之應用,引起國內保存機構對於保存性詮釋資料之重視。 本研究以文獻分析與專家訪談的方式進行,研究者首先透過文獻分析了解保存性詮釋資料之發展背景、內涵、功能、以及在數位保存過程中所扮演的角色,並以模擬策略為對象,提出模擬策略在整個執行過程中可能需要的參考資訊,最後以訪談方式找出保存機構選擇以模擬策略作為長期保存策略時,應使用哪些詮釋資料項目作為記錄。 本研究之結論如下: (一)保存性詮釋資料可提供數位物件之來源資訊、脈絡資訊、管理資訊、技術環境資訊、解譯資訊、權利資訊、協助內容驗證及保存策略執行過程中所需的資訊。 (二)模擬策略的整個執行過程可大致分成「封裝保存」、「模擬器撰寫」、「環境設定與安裝」及「取用數位資訊」等四個部分,除封裝保存為預先記錄外,其餘三個階段都可能需要相關資訊之支援。 (三)現存保存性詮釋資料項目可依所記錄資訊的類型分成12大類,其中以特徵資訊、產生資訊、環境資訊與呈現資訊此四類與模擬策略較為相關,未來保存機構選擇以模擬作為長期保存策略時,應特別注意這四類資訊的紀錄。

This study discusses the relationship between Preservation Metadata(PM) and long-term preservation strategy for digital information. PM is aimed to support the digital preservation and many projects have already shown it’s important. In Taiwan, the research of PM is still beginning, and no applied examples can be found. The study hope to find how to use PM with the preservation strategies. Further, the study hope to attract the preservation institutions to put PM as basic work. The study applies literature analysis and interview method. First, researcher discovers the context, content, function of PM, and the role in the digital preservation process. Then researcher selects emulation strategy as target and lists the needed information in the execution process. Finally, through expert interview the metadata elements used in emulation strategy is conformed and approvaled. The conclusions are as follow: 1.PM records provide the informaiton about provenience, context, custody history, technical environment, render approach, rights of digital object, helping content verification, and surport the information be needed in preservation strategy execution process. 2.All the emulation strategy execution process can be divided into four stages: encapsulation and preservation, emulator production, environment setting and installation, digital information access. Except the encapsulation and preservation stage, the others need some information to surport them. 3.The existing PM elements can be assorted into twelve categories, and Character, Creation, Environment, Representation information among these categories are much relative to emulation strategy. So if the institution selects emulation as long-term preservation approach, they should attend to record the four information types.
